THE SCRIPTURE - We believe the Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme authority for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

THE TRINITY - We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

GOD, THE FATHER - We believe in God, the Father, an infinite personal Spirit, creator of the heavens and earth, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of people, and that He hears and answers prayer.

JESUS CHRIST - We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return again someday in power and glory to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and seals them until the day of redemption. He gives every believer spiritual gifts as He wills.

SALVATION - We believe that all people are sinners in need of salvation. Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty of eternal separation from God in Hell. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into one's life by faith. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian; therefore, if you have been genuinely saved, you cannot "lose" it. It is the grace and keeping power of God through the Holy Spirit that gives us security in our salvation.

SANCTIFICATION - We believe that sanctification is the process by which Christians, according to the will of God, become more like Jesus Christ. It is a continuing work that begins at salvation and is carried on by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit through the continual use of such means as obedience to the Word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness and prayer.

THE CHURCH - We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all Christians are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ who are associated to accomplish God's purposes of Membership (developing relationships), Maturity (spiritual growth), Ministry (giving back in service), Mission (sharing the good news) and Magnification (worshiping God).

THE ORDINANCES - We believe that Jesus Christ has instructed those who believe in Him to be baptized in water as a symbol of their new birth in Christ. Baptism is only for those who have personally believed in Christ. Our practice is to baptize by immersion. The Lord also instituted the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of His suffering, death, and resurrection. Neither baptism nor the Lord’s Supper has any merit in helping a person obtain eternal life.

THE LAST THINGS - People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

ESSENTIALS AND NON-ESSENTIALS - Considering the many denominational backgrounds of our community church, we believe our attitude to other Christians should stress the importance of the main fundamental doctrines as being absolutely necessary, while being understanding in minor differences that so often are merely differences in terminology or custom, and in all things to show love to one another.

From it's beginning, Grace Point Community Church has been set within the framework of historic Evangelical theology. Particular emphasis has been placed upon a theology which gives primacy to the Bible as the source of Christian faith and practice.
